An income sharing agreement is a contract agreement that allows you to take a CareerFoundry program without paying any fees upfront. This allows you to focus on your program, while CHANCEN eG takes care of your tuition fees partially or completely. When you graduate and find a job, income based repayments are made to CHANCEN eG over a 5 year period.

High demand means high pay

Employers struggle to find qualified web developers, and the demand keeps growing. The average junior web developer salary in Germany is €36,813 per year, while mid-level web developers average €48,375 (Glassdoor Salaries, 2020).

A flexible career path

As a web developer, you will have the opportunity to work for startups, agencies, large corporates, on a freelance basis, or even remotely.

Why choose CareerFoundry?

Human-centric learning

Our Dual Mentorship Model ensures that you get all the support you need. Flexibility with accountability

With the Income Share Agreement and our flexibly-paced programs, you can schedule your studies around your life, rather than the other way around. Your mentor, tutor, student advisor, and career specialist will keep you accountable and help you stay on track.

What you need to take the Full-Stack Web Development Program with an ISA

What you need:

You may be eligible for an Income Share Agreement if you meet the following criteria:

• Proof of residency in Germany

The Income Share Agreements provided in partnership with CHANCEN eG are only available for German residents who are in possession of their Anmeldebescheinigung (proof that you are registered and living in Germany).

• Proficiency in English at B1.2 level or above

• Time to dedicate weekly to the course

You'll need to dedicate 15+ hours per week to finish the program in within the maximum program duration of 7 months

• A computer (Mac or PC) and an internet connection

• A strong interest in Web Development

If you are already reading books and blog posts about coding, that is a great sign. If you are unsure if web development is really for you, you can find out in the following ways:

What you don’t need:

• A background in tech

You don’t need a college degree or previous work experience that is related to coding or tech in order to be successful on the program or land a job. The program has been built to take you from beginner to job-ready. A study by job board Indeed found that 84% of employers think bootcamp grads are ‘more prepared’ or ‘just as prepared’ to be high performers as degree holders. (Indeed)

• Unlimited free time

You can complete the course in under 7 months if you commit 15-20 hours per week to your studies.

• To learn all on your own

The course combines the flexibility of online learning with the personalized mentorship and guidance traditionally associated with brick-and-mortar institutions. Much like a college professor might inspire you to pursue a career in a certain field, your mentor, tutor, career specialist, and student advisor will all help keep you motivated and on track.

• To be out of pocket

With the Income Share Agreement, you won't need to pay anything until you land a well-paying job of €27,000 or more per year.

FAQ

1.    What are the differences between the programs for private customers and students with an ISA?

There is no difference between the programs offered to private customers and the programs offered to students with an Income Share Agreement in terms of learning content and delivery. However, students with an Income Share Agreement have less flexibility in terms of time during the Intro to Frontend Development Course, as they are required to complete this course within the 1-month time limit in order to gain access to their Income Share Agreement and the full program.

2.    How does the online program actually work?

All CareerFoundry programs are completely online. Students can access the program content from the first day of the program via their personal account. The program content mainly consists of written material that is broken down into individual Achievements. Each Achievement is made up of exercises which must be completed and submitted via the CareerFoundry platform to be reviewed and approved by the assigned tutor. Although the curriculum may feature some videos, it's important to note that the program is not delivered via live webinar, and there are no virtual lessons to attend. The program is considered complete once the student has completed and submitted all exercises via the platform and had them approved by the tutor and mentor. There is no final exam. Upon successful program completion, the student can download their certificate via their user account. At the start of the program, the student will be assigned both a dedicated tutor and a mentor. All communication with the tutor and mentor takes place via the platform. Tutors are responsible for answering any questions about the program content and for reviewing exercises submitted by the student. They will assess the exercises and provide feedback. mentors are industry experts, responsible for providing feedback at the end of each Achievement. Students are also entitled to a certain number of video calls with their mentor in order to receive personalized, one-to-one feedback. Students are also supported by the student advisor team. Student advisors are there to answer any questions the student might have, and can be contacted via the platform. As part of a huge online community, students also have the opportunity to share their experience with other students and to organize and take part in local meetups. Around halfway through the program (51% completion), students will also have access to a free Job Preparation Course, as well as to a dedicated Career Specialist. You can read more here.

3.    What does ZFU-approved mean?

The ZFU, or Staatliche Zentralstelle für Fernunterricht, is the state body for distance learning in Germany. In order to offer our Web Development Program publicly, it must undergo a rigorous quality assurance and certification process. On successful completion of this process, the program is assigned a unique approval number (7359420) which can be checked against a public register.

4.    How can I get the ISA?

In order to get an ISA, you need to be accepted by both CHANCEN eG, our ISA provider, and CareerFoundry, the service provider for your career-change program. You will need to proceed through an application process with both companies. You can start this process by applying here with CHANCEN eG and by booking a call with one of our program advisors at CareerFoundry. If you don't get accepted by one of the parties, you may be eligible to study with another school with an ISA, or you may be able to take advantage of another funding or payment option at CareerFoundry.

5.    How do I know if I am eligible for an ISA?

Your financial background is not taken into account when applying for an ISA with CHANCEN eG. Whether you are a suitable candidate will be decided during an interview process. During this process, you can get to know the team at CHANCEN eG and they can get to know you, ensuring that the agreement suits both parties. We therefore recommend starting the application process to find out whether you are eligible.

6.    Where and when am I supposed to work on the program?

The programs at CareerFoundry are completely online. Students that are to be supported by an ISA are expected to complete the Intro to Frontend Development Course within one month in order to proceed onto the Full-Stak Web Development Program and access the ISA. In order to do this, students will typically have to dedicate an absolute minimum of 15 hours/week to the course. We encourage students to follow a regular working schedule to achieve this. After you have successfully completed the Intro to Frontend Development Course and graduated onto the full program, we recommend you maintain your pace of at least 15-20 hours per week in order to complete the program comfortably within the 7-month limit.

7.    What happens if I don’t work on the program or log into the platform on a regular basis?

If you don't manage to complete the Intro to Frontend Development Course within one month, you won't be able to proceed onto the full program and access your ISA. As such, it's important to maintain a regular study plan of at least 15 hours per week. After you've moved onto the full program, we strongly recommend you maintain this pace in order to be confident that you will complete within seven months.

8.    Is there an exam to pass at the end of the program?

There is no final exam to pass in order to finish the program. For each module, there are tasks to submit which need to be approved by your mentor or tutor. During the program, students work on a project that has to be developed by the end of the program. Once you have fully completed the program, you can download your personal certificate from the main dashboard.

9.    What happens once I have finished the program?

Once you have finished the program, you will be able to download your certificate via the dashboard. You will then need to complete the Job Preparation Course and start working on your job search. CareerFoundry is responsible for informing the Agentur für Arbeit as soon as you have completed the program.

10.    How am I supported in my job search?

Once you are 51% of the way through the full program, you can sign up to the Job Preparation Course via your personal dashboard. The course consists of two Achievements, and you have up to one month (30 days) after you’ve completed the Full-Stack Web Development Program to complete the Job Prep Course. Upon successful completion of the Job Prep Course within this timeframe, you can work with a dedicated career specialist for a further six months. They will give you the tools you need to start applying for a job in tech.

11.    When do I start repayments for the Full-Stack Web Development Program?

The repayment period begins on January 1st of the year following the successful completion of your studies. The actual repayments only start once you earn above the minimum income threshold of 27,000 euros. For more information, please refer to CHANCEN eG.

12.    What type of income is the repayment structure based on?

The repayment is based on gross income, once social security contributions and related expenses have been deducted. This is applicable when your net income is 78.8 % of total earnings. For freelancers (non-employees), it is 63.0 % of total income. Total income includes: gross, rental and investment income less the standard amount paid to pension benefits. This calculation is based on current guidelines from the German Education Act BAföG – deductions for employees, trainees and inactive persons are approx. 21.2% and for non-workers 37.0%.

13.    What happens if I cancel my program?

In this case, the percentage of your repayment structure is adjusted according to the amount of the program you have studied. For example, if you terminate your studies half way through, the percentage on repayments is halved. Even in this instance, your repayments will only start once your income is above the minimum threshold. You can therefore, start another degree or apprenticeship without financial stress.

14.    What if I have a question that isn’t answered here?

If you have further questions about how the ISA works, you can review this FAQ on CHANCEN eG's site and contact their team directly. You can also book a call with one of our program advisors to answer any questions you may have.
