About Mentoring

CareerFoundry is an online, mentored training platform in Web Development for people who have accepted the challenge of becoming a web developer. Our aim is to take complete beginners to the level of a junior web developer in 6 months.

Students complete two projects throughout the course: a live portfolio website, and a Production-Ready Web App. CareerFoundry Mentors are connected to their students via the CareerFoundry platform. As a mentor, you'll provide feedback and constructive criticism on your students' tasks, and provide students with the guidance they need to improve their work through code reviews and industry insights.

To help guide CareerFoundry students, mentors have at their disposal the entire CF course curriculum, course content, task requirements, and lesson specific guiding questions for delving deeper into the students’ understanding of core concepts. We also provide a Mentor Manual which details every step of the mentoring process, and contains an in depth appendix full of mentoring tools, tips, and best practices to facilitate the mentoring experience.

We’re always here to support our mentors by connecting them to the entire CF staff and mentoring community via Slack, where they can always reach out with questions, comments, thoughts, and feedback on how we can make mentoring even more fulfilling and rewarding for mentors and students.

Mentors are assigned a group of about 15 students. Once a student submits a task, mentors make sure that it meets all the task requirements set forth by the course curriculum.

Mentors also give feedback and constructive criticism on tasks, and provide students with the guidance they need to improve their work through task reviews and industry insights. When students are clearly lacking in understanding in a certain key area, mentors are there to encourage them and provide supplemental tricks and tips to help them power through any roadblocks they encounter on their path to becoming professional web developers..

Mentors are connected to their students via Slack, where your students will post their questions about course content, and project updates in need of review. You’ll be there to guide them through their problems while simultaneously empowering them to find their own solutions.

Mentors are connected to Slack and available to their students for four hours per day from Monday through Friday. Mentors will most likely be working in a 4 hour period sometime between 1 PM to around 10 PM to meet the study schedules of our students, but when exactly will depend on what works for the mentor.

Mentors will sign a freelance contract, and will be compensated a generous monthly salary.
