The future is looking bright for aspiring digital marketers. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, advertising and marketing jobs are expected to grow by 10 percent in the next eight years. This translates to an additional 31,800 jobs by 2030, or a total of 348,700 projected employment. These are made up of many different roles, including digital marketing specialists, digital marketing analysts, and paid marketing specialists. LinkedIn recently included the “Digital Marketing Specialist” role as the sixth most in-demand job, with 860,000 job openings globally.

What’s more, for the past decade the marketing industry has been dealing with a digital skills gap—recent studies show that it’s getting worse. This is only good news for those looking to become digital marketing experts, with a quick search on the job site Indeed.com showing over 40,000 open digital marketing positions in the US right now.

Across the Atlantic, the situation is similar. The digital skills gap is costing the UK over £6.8 billion per year. Even considering Brexit and the Covid-19 pandemic, Europe’s largest digital marketing market currently boasts over 16,000 open digital marketing roles.

In terms of compensation rate, entry-level digital marketing analysts in the US can earn an average of $45,600 a year. Depending on where you work, some states offer as much as $56,500 annual salary. As for digital marketing managers, you can expect an annual salary of $71,914.

Recognizing this demand, we’ve created our newest program in Digital Marketing, which will be released in April 2022.

CareerFoundry’s mission is to make career change universally accessible and effective. Our Digital Marketing Program aligns with that mission. Since 2014 we’ve proved that we can train beginners with an online, asynchronous, project-based program, taking them to job-ready professionals in as little as six months in tech fields including UX design, web development, and data analytics. The success of our tech graduates over the years shows that students need neither experience in a related role nor extensive funds in order to flourish as a career-changer.

Whether you’d like to be an entrepreneur yourself, to work for a company’s marketing department, to pivot from a more traditional marketing or communications job, or even to support a state run or non-profit organization or campaign, there’s a place for all who have digital marketing skills.

When it comes to the program itself, you’ll work on case studies of a variety of organizations from global corporations, to small businesses and nonprofits. As you learn, you’ll be developing skills in the technical, creative, and ethical sides of digital marketing. You’ll also have the opportunity to work on a marketing campaign for your very own brand as part of a capstone project, with the support of two digital marketing experts—a tutor and a mentor.

And that’s not all—as a student in our Digital Marketing Program, you’ll be backed by the CareerFoundry Job Guarantee. The Job Guarantee is a mark of confidence in our unique learning model; if you don’t find a job in your new field within 180 days of graduation, we’ll refund your tuition. To discover more about your eligibility, take a look at this comprehensive overview.

Next up, we’ll discuss what’s included in the program, how to get on the program waitlist, and how you can take advantage of the Early Bird Discount we’ll be offering closer to the release.

What will you learn on the program?

The CareerFoundry Digital Marketing Program will take you around seven months to complete and is broken down into six thematic units. The introduction phase revolves around building a solid foundation in digital marketing by tackling the fundamentals of digital marketing strategy, planning a digital marketing campaign, delving deeper into marketing analytics, and presenting campaign results for a month. The introductory course allows you to delve into the basics of digital marketing and understand whether it’s the right fit for you.

This is followed by the immersion phase, where you’ll work and think like a real digital marketer—learning the ropes of content marketing, SEO and email marketing, social media marketing, branding, performance marketing, and multi-channel marketing and analytics. You’ll work on projects such as:

  • Planning and executing content marketing as part of a small organisation’s marketing team for sustainable picnic products—this includes landing page creation and design, blog writing, SEO, email marketing, and analytics.
  • Planning and executing the multi-platform organic social media marketing for a digital health service client, as well as their social media and search engine paid marketing strategy, performance analysis, and optimisation.
  • Analyzing multi-channel marketing data for a lottery service and developing an ethical data-driven strategy, comprehensive project plan, and collaborative documentation for implementation.

When designing our programs, we group our learning outcomes into the following skill areas: technical, non-technical, and ethics. First, the technical skills. You’ll develop a broad range of on-the-job skills related to preparing for, implementing, and analyzing various different types of digital marketing campaigns.

However, we’re preparing you for a real job, which also requires domain-specific non-technical skills related to communication, collaboration, and project management. So, you’ll also learn how to plan, prioritize, and budget for your campaigns, how to communicate with and engage clients and stakeholders, and how to collaborate effectively with peers and in cross-functional teams.

Finally, ethics. We want you to graduate from our program and enter the workplace being responsible with your skills. That’s why throughout the program you’ll learn about what it means to be an ethical marketer and how to filter this into your role and responsibility as a professional.

What can you expect once you’ve finished the program?

You’ll finish with a portfolio containing five projects, each demonstrating the variety of skills you’ll have mastered on the program.

To give you the most room in which to specialize as a digital marketer, the scope of the program is for generalist training as a digital marketing specialist. To achieve this, you will work on various different projects targeting the top digital marketing channels, industries, product/service types, and working environments for digital marketers. Alongside these targeted projects, you’ll chip away at a long-term personal capstone project where you’ll develop skills in multi-channel marketing.

By the end of the program, you’ll have the in-demand skills to land a job as a digital marketer and the foundational knowledge and skills for further specialization in the field.

You will be prepared for entry-level digital marketing jobs in various industries, for various products/services, in different organisational settings (small, large, agency), and using a variety of marketing channels.

Are there any discounts if you sign up early?

Yes! We’ll be offering an exclusive 25% discount on the program for those who sign up to our waiting list in advance on the launch.

What should you do next?
