What inspired you to make a career change into this field?

I always had a passion for art. I went to a graphic design high school many years ago, but didn’t choose design as a career path when I was younger because I wanted to become a full-time artist.

As I grew older and matured, my goals in life changed and I found myself longing for a career that is practical, creative and meaningful—something that would really help people and make a difference in their everyday life. When I stumbled upon UX/UI design, it was clear to me that I found exactly what I was looking for.

What did you enjoy most about the CareerFoundry UI Design Program?

I really liked the flexibility to learn when I wanted to, and when it fit my schedule, that was crucial for me.

The second most important thing and the most valuable thing to me was the mentorship. I had an amazing mentor that always inspired me and pushed me forward. I learned so much from him and am forever grateful for his support—thank you Badr, you’re the best!

The curriculum was also excellent in my opinion. I loved that on every task there were 3 examples of other students’ work, which was always inspiring and interesting to compare myself to others, as well as to gain a better understanding of what is being asked for in the task.

What did you enjoy about creating your CareerFoundry portfolio project?

Basically everything! The learning by doing, and getting to know how the whole design process works—from understanding a problem, to then trying to creatively solve it. Plus, on top of that, learning how to make it all as beautiful and user-friendly as possible.

With regards to your new career and skills, what are your hopes for the future?

My first goal was to start working full-time as a UI/UX designer, and that already happened—3 months after completing the program! I was blessed with the opportunity to start my career in an incredible IT company. I never felt this good in any job in my life, and the company culture is 100% my natural vibe, so it’s just fantastic.

My hopes are now to continue to learn and grow as much as possible, in order to one day become as great a designer as my CareerFoundry mentor.
