Hi Leigha! Could you give us a brief overview of your educational and professional background before enrolling in the CareerFoundry program?
I have my Bachelors in Psychology and was working as a freelance self-taught website designer prior to starting the program.
What inspired you to make a career change into this field?
I was looking for a way to take the next step in my career, and felt that getting a certification in UX/UI Design was a great way to take my skillset to the next level.
What did you enjoy most about the program?
I really liked getting detailed feedback from both my tutor and mentor throughout the program!
Tell us about your current job
I am currently working as a product designer. I’m excited to continue to grow in the field, make an impact on products in a positive way, and help mentor other designers who are just getting starting in the field of UX/UI or product design.
Below, Leigha maps out the design thinking process for her UX design portfolio project “Habitat”; a responsive app created to help home buyers find their perfect home.
“I really enjoyed designing an app that gave me the opportunity to utilize my new skills while also bringing me outside of my design comfort zone. By going through the UI process I was able to create a more polished end product.”
