Web Dev Portfolio

Lucian Murmurache

During the CareerFoundry Full-Stack Web Development Program, you’ll build out a job-ready portfolio. Below is a breakdown of graduate Lucian’s ‘ChatMeApp’ portfolio project. If you’d like to visit his full portfolio, you can do so here.

Lucian completed our Full-Stack Web Development Program in 2020. He’s now on the hunt for a developer role.

Hi Lucian! Talk us through what inspired you to make a career change into web development?

I’ve had a passion for programming since my early 20s, but between never seeming to have the funds and getting stuck into working life quite early on, I never made it onto a university course. I dabbled with code, read a few books, and watched a few Youtube videos, but I was never sure of where (or how) to properly get started. One day I said, “enough is enough. I need a school if I ever want to become a developer.” Shortly after, I found CareerFoundry!

What did you enjoy most about the Full-Stack Web Development Program?

The thing I like best about the course is that the content is almost 100% written. If you work on a task and get an error, you can find the answer in the task itself by typing Ctrl+f and trying some keywords. No need to DuckDuckGo or Google it. The structure of the course is ideal for a complete beginner like me. I very much enjoyed the tasks and projects!

With regards to your new career, what are your hopes for the future?

I hope to join an awesome workplace where I can further develop my skills and learn from my peers. Just as I’m eternally grateful for all I’ve learned from some of the most amazing people I’ve ever met, I hope to get the chance to give back to the community and help others learn too.

Tell us about this portfolio project.

This project was one of the most challenging projects I’ve worked on, but it also taught me the most. I really enjoyed creating a native app using React and Expo—although at times I had no idea what I was doing or why I was getting various errors. Nevertheless, with the help and guidance of my tutor and mentor, I managed to bring it to life! It was also refreshing to work on a native app and not only on web applications.
