    1. What is UI design?<\/span><\/h2>\n

    Before we jump into the process of becoming a UI designer, let\u2019s first get on the same page about what UI design entails\u2014and how it\u2019s different from UX design.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    UI design is the process of incorporating usability principles to design the graphic layout of a desktop or application. Everything users see and interact with\u2014including text, buttons, images, menus, sliders, forms, transitions, animations, and layouts\u2014has to be designed.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    This role falls to UI designers, who design \u200b\u200bthe look, feel, and interactivity of a digital product.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    UI designers don\u2019t just make websites and apps look pretty. They use design principles (like Fitts’s Law<\/a>, for example) to make sure websites are usable, accessible and intuitive\u2014as well as aesthetically pleasing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    UI designers often work in tandem with UX designers to design the end-to-end digital product. While UX designers are more concerned with an interface\u2019s <\/span>usability and functionality<\/b>, UI designers are primarily responsible for an interface\u2019s <\/span>look and feel<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n
